Hello friends!
In today’s video I walk through my entire process of seed starting in a container! This is my second season to do it and I’ve had really, really great success with it! I think the seeds love the humidity and the consistency in temperatures in the box… idk, science, but I do know that it’s super affordable and it works really well!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
For seed containers you can use:
- Seed Starting containers (link)
- Plastic containers
- Egg cartons
- Ice cream cones (I’ve seen it)
- Egg shells
- Or nothing! Or anything you’d like!
WHAT TO DO:
01: You literally add seed soil to whatever carton you’re using, and place that in the container.
02: You’ll add your seeds, water and then place in a container.
03: Spray the container to create a humid environment, then place outside in the sun.
That’s it!
PRO TIP: Water the seeds like you normally would – they’ll likely stay a little more damp due to the humidity, so you probably need to water less. Do let them dry out a bit, but not compeletely (it’s a balance that all depends on your weather, temperature, etc.).
Have fun! This is a great acitivty to do with your kids! I did it with my 17 month old and then 18 month old and it was a really sweet and special time.
Though I do recommend doing it on a table with littles instead of the ground, because they’re less likely to grab all the things they shouldn’t be at that moment 😉
Good luck!
