For today’s 12 Days of DIY project, we’re going to get our hands dirty (okay not really, but a little bit).
Today’s project isn’t hard, but it’s definitely a lot more involved than the last projects, most of which only took 3-5 minutes (tops) to make. This one you’ll probably need to dedicate about 1.5-2 hours to the entire project.
Items you’ll need:
- Clay (this is the one I used)
- Elastic Bead String (link)
- Knife (I thrifted one)
- Cutting Board
- Foil
- Toothpick
Instructions:
- First, you’re going to unpackage the clay and cut it into long strips, about 1/2″ thick.
- From there, cut the string into little squares (well they look more rectangular), also about 1/2″ thick.
- Once everything is cut, take a piece and start rolling it in between your hands. After it’s smooth, take two fingers and continue rolling it to make a sphere shape (now a bead).
- Using a toothpick, poke a hole through the “bead.” This will likely morph the shape a little bit, so once you remove the toothpick, you might have to finicky with it a little to get the shape back.
- Repeat steps 3-4 until you’ve created beads with all of your pieces (this is what takes the longest, so I recommend popping a movie or a podcast on).
- Bake according to the package instructions and let cool.
- Strong on to bead string until you have your desired bracelet size.
- Add a drop of essential oils, wear and enjoy!
That’s it!
