I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite things about fall is that Starbucks comes out with their PSL latte! Well, what I love most is they actually seem to understand that all of the fall obsessed people are really ready for fall in like, August! This year they launched the PSL in August, and I was ecstatic!
Anyways, Daniel and I have spent the last few months trying to become more mindful of the products we use and consume. We’ve been reading labels, trying to understand ingredients, and living as close to the rule of “less than 10 ingredients that we can pronounce” kinda rule for food. Well, Starbucks PSL definitely doesn’t fulfill this rule – and while I do feel like it’s a right of passage to the kick off to fall, I do find that I get a major stomach ache whenever I drink it.
So many of my darling friends asked me for my own PSL recipe! I looked at a bunch of different recipes to figure out one that I loved, and I’m excited to share it with you today!
So without further adieu, let’s get to it! You can read through this post for the recipe, or watch the video below to get a visual for the instructions 🙂
To start, you’re going to need the following ingredients:
- A glass jar (could reuse another jar or a mason jar, easy). I bought the one in the video from Ikea, but here’s one on amazon that’s similar.
- 3 cups of Almond Milk (or dairy free alternative milk of your choice)
- 4 tbs of Organic Pumpkin Puree
- 4 tbs of Organic Maple Syrup
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Pumpkin Spice
- 1/4 tsp Nutmeg (optional)
- 1/4 tsp Allspice (optional)
Instructions:
1. Mix together all ingredients in a pot over medium heat. As the milk starts to warm, whisk ingredients together.
2. Let it continue to mix, whisking occasionally for about 10 minutes. Don’t let it get too hot (boiling) or you might burn the pumpkin/milk!
3. Set to the side, and let it cool down.
4. Pour into your glass jar of choice (I used a funnel to help me) and then store in the fridge!
This mixture should be good for about 2 weeks in the fridge (if it lasts that long). Makes close to 1 pint.
Then enjoy!
This is like regular creamer, so you can add it to whatever your drinking and brewing preference is for your coffee (or your tea).
This recipe is strong on the flavor profile (I love it when things taste like what it says, instead of a “barely there” hint of something). The small dash of nutmeg and allspice add the perfect amount of just a little extra something that’s the cherry on this delicious PSL creamer!Â
